Praetorian PR

About Praetorian

Praetorian Public Relations was founded in 2013 on the belief that exceptional outcomes rarely come from conventional teams. They come from carefully chosen people with uncommon judgment, deep command of their craft, competitive instincts, and the temperament to perform under pressure.

The name Praetorian was chosen deliberately. In ancient Rome, the Praetorians began as a commander’s picked guard, a select cohort trusted to remain close, prepared, and ready when circumstances demanded more than the ordinary ranks. That idea became our standard.

We have built Praetorian Public Relations as a cohort of specialists with clearly defined roles, deep expertise, and shared responsibility for the outcome. Our experience spans national newsrooms, strategic communications, digital growth, campaigns, creative production, and emerging technology. Each person is expected to master a role, take ownership of the result, and elevate the people around them.

The result is not simply a collection of impressive résumés. It is a deliberately built team: disciplined, adaptable, and designed to perform.

That philosophy shapes how Praetorian Public Relations operates. We believe clients facing consequential moments deserve more than vendors executing a scope of work. They deserve people who understand the objective, anticipate what comes next, and accept responsibility for helping achieve it.

We prepare obsessively, communicate plainly, move decisively, and stay close to the work. Expertise is not reserved for the pitch meeting. Strategy does not disappear into layers of account management. The people developing the strategy are the people executing it, testing it against reality, and adapting when the environment demands it.

We also believe mastery carries an obligation to teach. Matt Shupe, Trevor Lewis, and Daytona Everett regularly lecture and train other professionals. Teaching requires us to continually examine, articulate, and refine the principles behind our own work. At Praetorian Public Relations, complacency is incompatible with the name on the door.

That standard has earned Praetorian Public Relations national recognition across successive generations of communications. Founder Matt Shupe has been named to the American Association of Political Consultants’ 40 Under 40, while Praetorian Public Relations’ work has earned national Pollie Awards for disciplines ranging from social media and digital advocacy to the use of generative artificial intelligence.

The accolades are meaningful, but they are evidence rather than destination. Our identity is built around finding exceptional people, giving them meaningful responsibility, mastering new terrain before it becomes conventional, and continually raising the standard for one another.
